FONPLATA joins the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), reinforcing its commitment to accountability and effective cooperation

FONPLATA

FONPLATA – Development Bank has officially joined the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), reaffirming its institutional commitment to transparency, accountability, and multilateral cooperation.

From now on, the Bank will regularly publish structured and standardized information on its development financing activities. In its first dataset, FONPLATA shares detailed information on 105 activities and 762 financial transactions (including commitments and disbursements), covering the entire universe of projects from 2014 to the present. The data includes project descriptions, geographic locations, key dates, participating organizations, sector classifications, and financial details in various currencies.

"By joining the International IATI Initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to transparency, accountability, and multilateral cooperation. Publishing detailed information on the projects we finance allows us to align with best practices in development cooperation. This open and standardized platform facilitates access to key data, strengthens the trust of our partners and beneficiaries, and promotes greater efficiency in project implementation," stated Luciana Botafogo, Executive President.

The transition to the IATI standard involved close coordination across internal teams at FONPLATA and was greatly supported by the technical guidance provided by the IATI team, enabling a smooth and effective shift toward greater data openness.

Yemesrach Assefa Workie, Executive Director of IATI, said: “We warmly welcome FONPLATA as one of a growing number of development banks publishing their data to IATI. This is a positive step for transparency and cooperation in the Latin American region. We congratulate FONPLATA on their commitment to open data and look forward to seeing how their information supports stronger coordination and results.”

FONPLATA finances development and regional integration projects across its five member countries—Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay—with a focus on border areas and underserved regions. Joining IATI not only strengthens the Bank’s internal monitoring and evaluation capabilities but also enhances coordination with its strategic partners.

Through this initiative, FONPLATA joins the global community committed to advancing transparency in development finance and reaffirms its determination to contribute to more effective cooperation aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
