FONPLATA supports urban development and Buenos Aires

Development Bank approved the project the putting into value and re-operationalization of the building which was the ex Casero´s prison facility is a new home office for the Ministry of finances and economy of the government in the Argentinian capital. This initiative will help the development of the southern region of the city I will accompany the plans for administrative decentralization and urban integration to the neighborhood with the purpose of improving the quality of life of all of its inhabitants.

The investment implies the construction of a new building of 42,000 m² which includes the recovery of the historic construction which was built in the year 1877. Up until about two decades ago this location operated as a jail facility and currently presents serious deterioration and abandonment.

After the recovery of the building the ministry seeks to centralize its activities in the building in order to build to contribute in his functional operations. Currently the ministry has different offices located in different locations.

The financing issued by FONPLATA through this new project seeks to complement the funds which have been included for this work by the Argentinian federal program for regional infrastructure which is also approved by FONPLATA this year.

The administration of this project will be in charge of the Ministry of economy and finances and the ministry of urban development and transportation of the autonomous city of Buenos Aires. The construction foresees the restoration of the first external ring of the Caseros ex jail facility, which has protection as a historical site. Once refurbished will conglomerate the activity of approximately 4700 workers of the municipal government of the city of Buenos Aires.

The formal jail facility is located in the Parque los Patricios, in the southern section of the city, were the least developed regions. With this initiative the ideas to improve the quality of life of the dwellers of the city of Buenos Aires and also to allow to decompress the density of its downtown area which also hosts the national administration.
