FONPLATA’s Leadership Endorses the Bioceanic Corridor in Salta as a Strategic Axis for Regional Integration
Within the framework of the 207th Meeting of the Executive Board, in Salta, the Leadership of FONPLATA — Development Bank provided institutional support for the Territorial Integration and Sustainable Development Program of the Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor in Salta (ARG-64/2025), a strategic initiative for the logistical and productive integration of Argentina's Norte Grande region.
With financing of USD 100 million, the ARG-64/2025 Program promotes critical works on National Route 51, Provincial Route 24, and the Campo Quijano Bypass, as well as water and sanitation infrastructure in communities in the Puna region and the modernization of border checkpoints.
The Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor is a continental integration platform that links Argentina with Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Brazil, connecting Atlantic and Pacific ports and strengthening the international integration of regional economies. As FONPLATA’s founding mission is to promote the integration and harmonious development of its member countries, supporting this project means backing a public policy aimed at reducing logistical gaps, boosting exports, and stimulating productive development in the Argentine Northwest.
During the visit, the Executive President and Governor Gustavo Sáenz agreed on the strategic importance of the ARG-64/2025 Program, recognizing Salta as a strategic hub of the bioceanic corridor with the potential to deepen cooperation to structure new investments with a territorial impact.
The agenda also included follow-up on the San Bernardo Hospital Expansion and Refurbishment Program (ARG-49/2020), which has received USD 20 million in financing from FONPLATA and USD 8 million in provincial funding. This operation reinforces the social dimension of joint work and expands the capacity of the provincial public health system.
The presence of the Executive Board in the territory reflects FONPLATA's active leadership and the Bank's institutional support for projects that combine regional integration, competitiveness, and sustainable development. Salta is thus consolidating its position as a strategic partner in an investment agenda that projects the Norte Grande region as a key player in South American integration.
