FONPLATA completes its 2025 funding program with its first issuance in Indian rupees

In line with its strategy to diversify funding sources and currencies, FONPLATA – Development Bank executed today a new issuance under its Medium-Term Note Program (MTN Program) for INR 9 billion, equivalent to approximately USD 101.5 million.

The 5.5 year note, maturing in May 2031 and paying an annual coupon of 7.45%, was purchased by global fund managers, further consolidating FONPLATA’s growing presence as a regular issuer in international capital markets.

With this transaction, FONPLATA reaches a cumulative issuance volume of USD 622 million in 2025, across 13 issuances, marking a new annual record since its first market access in 2019. The operation also enables the Bank to surpass the USD 550 million market-based funding target set for this year, while beginning to pre-fund the 2026 program.

The issuance also introduces exposure to a new currency —the Indian rupee (INR)— becoming the third additional currency accessed by FONPLATA in 2025, following issuances in US dollars (USD) and Australian dollars (AUD). This further broadens the Bank’s investor base and strengthens its diversification profile.

At the consolidated level, this operation allows FONPLATA to more than complete its total annual funding target of USD 680 million for 2025, already reaching a volume above USD 700 million.

FONPLATA’s Executive President, Luciana Botafogo, highlighted:

“We are very pleased with this new issuance, which allows us to reach our annual funding target ahead of schedule and surpass USD 600 million issued in a single year, equivalent to more than 1.5 times our previous record. This milestone reflects investors’ confidence in our institutional strength and development mandate. I would also like to highlight the financial conditions achieved, which show a progressive and systematic improvement across market access throughout the year. All of this reinforces our commitment to continue working with a long-term vision, consolidating our presence in the markets and securing competitive resources for our member countries.”

With this achievement, FONPLATA reaffirms its position as a frequent issuer, laying a solid foundation to continue strengthening its funding capacity in support of the sustainable development and regional integration of its member countries.
