FONPLATA completes a new issuance and surpasses USD 500 million placed in a single year for the first time, strengthening its presence in international capital markets

In line with its strategy to diversify funding sources, FONPLATA – Development Bank successfully completed a new private placement of USD 30 million under its Medium-Term Note (MTN) Program.

The issuance, a 5.5-year floating rate note priced at SOFR +130 basis points, was placed with an Asian institutional investor, further reaffirming FONPLATA’s growing footprint as a regular issuer in the international capital markets.

Among the most relevant aspects, this transaction deepens the Bank’s price discovery process in the 5-year node. In this regard, 2025 has seen a progressive compression of the SOFR spread in this tenor, with issuances in March at SOFR +145 bps and in May at SOFR +135 bps (both at 5 years), while the present transaction was executed at SOFR +130 bps with a 5.5-year maturity. This outcome contributes to maintaining a balanced and smooth amortization profile, in line with a prudent liability management strategy.

With this operation, FONPLATA’s cumulative issuance volume in 2025 reached USD 520.5 million across twelve transactions, representing 95% of the annual market funding target of USD 550 million.

FONPLATA’s Executive President, Luciana Botafogo, stated: “We are very pleased with this new issuance, which allows us to surpass for the first time in our history USD 500 million issued in international markets within a single year. This milestone reflects investors’ confidence in our institutional strength and in our development mandate. It commits us to continue working with responsibility and a long-term vision, consolidating our presence in the markets and securing competitive funding for our member countries”.

With this achievement, FONPLATA reaffirms its role as a solid and reliable issuer in capital markets, laying the foundations to further expand its funding capacity in support of the development of its member countries.
