FONPLATA Receives the “Juana Azurduy de Padilla” Award in Recognition of Its Contribution to Bolivia’s Development

As part of the celebrations marking the 201st anniversary of Bolivia’s independence, FONPLATA received the “Juana Azurduy de Padilla” statuette. The award is presented by the Autonomous Municipal Government of Sucre to institutions, cooperation agencies, embassies, and distinguished individuals who contribute to the well-being of the population and the country’s development.

The ceremony took place at the Palacete Municipal de El Guereo and brought together representatives from various sectors of public life, including education, journalism, diplomacy, and international cooperation. On behalf of FONPLATA, Executive Vice President Elke Groterhorst accepted the award in the “International Partners and Funding Agencies” category, in recognition of the Bank’s track record and impact in the country.

The recognition highlights more than 52 years of work supporting sustainable development and regional integration, with an active presence in all nine departments of Bolivia through projects that promote infrastructure improvements, access to basic services, job creation, connectivity, and the transition to cleaner energy sources.

Sucre hosted FONPLATA's first headquarters, representing the starting point of its journey in promoting development across its five member countries. This historical connection makes the award a significant milestone for the organization and reaffirms its commitment to Bolivia and its communities.

During the ceremony, international organizations, cooperation agencies, diplomatic missions, educational institutions, media outlets, and prominent figures were also honored for their contributions to the development of the municipality and the country.

With this award, FONPLATA reaffirms its commitment to promoting investments and partnerships that create opportunities, drive sustainable development, and strengthen regional integration for the benefit of communities in Bolivia and throughout Latin America.
