FONPLATA Reaches its Largest Outstanding Bond Following U.S. Dollar Note Reopening and Continues to Reduce its Funding Cost

29 September 2026 - FONPLATA - Development Bank completed a new transaction under its Medium-Term Note (MTN) Program through the reopening of the U.S. dollar-denominated floating-rate note due on 13 February 2032, originally issued in August 2026 with a 5.5-year tenor.

The USD 50 million transaction increases the outstanding amount of the note to USD 300 million, making it FONPLATA’s largest outstanding bond to date.

The reopening was executed at a spread of SOFR + 103 basis points, 10 basis points below the original issuance completed last August, which had been placed at par with a coupon of SOFR + 113 basis points. This result represents the tightest spread achieved by FONPLATA for market funding around the 5-year tenor and reflects the continued improvement in its access to international capital markets.

The transaction was completed amid increasing market volatility, making it particularly noteworthy that FONPLATA was able to execute the transaction while continuing to reduce its marginal funding cost.

The transaction attracted international institutional investors and further contributes to the diversification of FONPLATA’s investor base, with participation from institutions in Asia and Europe.

With this transaction, FONPLATA has raised USD 893 million in the markets so far in 2026. Including disbursements from loans and credit lines with development finance institutions, total progress under the 2026 funding plan amounts to approximately USD 935 million, equivalent to 83% of the Bank’s funding needs for the year, with three quarters of the year elapsed.

This transaction reaffirms FONPLATA’s ability to access international capital markets on a recurring and efficient basis, diversify its funding sources, and mobilize resources for projects that promote sustainable development and regional integration across its member countries.
