FONPLATA approves a USD 35-million loan for the sustainable urban development of Ananindeua, Brazil

Prefeitura de Ananindeua

FONPLATA's Executive Board of Directors granted a USD 35-million loan to the Ananindeua Municipal Council (State of Pará) for an urban development program.

The planned activities will contribute to urban resilience and territorial reorganization, as well as improve mobility, green areas, and the livability and integration of public spaces. The works will increase the capacity of the storm sewer and recover the safety strips that prevent flooding caused by the rising of urban waterways. Moreover, green spaces will be rehabilitated and the conditions of families living in areas at risk of flooding will be improved.

Additionally, the project will support the definition and implementation of territorial planning and management instruments and strengthen the municipality's capacity to carry out actions with a gender and diversity approach. All these issues are critical given that this is the second most populated city in the state of Pará and the fourth in the Brazilian Amazon.
