FONPLATA was present at the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg
FONPLATA’s Executive Vice President, Mariana Prado, participated in the activities organized around the BRICS Summit held, from August 22 to 24, in Johannesburg, South Africa. During the event, the entry of one of our member countries to the BRICS bloc (Argentina) was announced, and the President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, stated that all steps have been taken to incorporate the Plurinational State of Bolivia to the BRICS bloc and the New Development Bank (NDB).
Within the framework of the 2017 Memorandum of Understanding, FONPLATA maintains a strategic alliance with the NDB, not only because four of its member countries are part or are in the process of joining that institution (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Uruguay), but also because the Bank is negotiating a line of credit with the NDB and there are already co-financing operations in Brazil.
Finally, FONPLATA was able to present its work to various authorities and representatives of delegations that participated in this historic Summit, where six new countries joined the Global South coalition that concentrates more than 41% of the world's population.
