Paraguay: Jesuit Route Restoration and Enhancement
Santa Cruz de la Sierra, November 13, 2018. - FONPLATA’s Executive Board of Directors approved today a 12-million-dollar project for the Improvement of Paraguay Jesuit Route’s Connectivity and Building Infrastructure.
The operation includes a 2-million-dollar local contribution and aims at improving tourist flow in the abovementioned route. The works include the restoration, improvement, and preservation of the architectural sites in the Santísima Trinidad del Paraná, Jesús de Tavarangüé, and San Cosme y Damián Missions, and the enhancement of museums and heritage buildings in the Department of Misiones.
The project also seeks to adjust and improve the infrastructure of Misiones’ service areas, while developing complementary tourist services to encourage visitors to spend more time at the different attractions of the Route. This project is expected to be a step towards the promotion of the International Jesuit Route encouraging similar initiatives in neighboring countries that share this valuable historical and cultural heritage.
