FONPLATA contributes to mitigate housing emergency in Argentina

Ph. Ministerio de Desarrollo Social de Argentina

The Development Bank will fund the “Emergency Housing Improvement Program”, aiming at improving the conditions of households in emergency situations due to critical social vulnerability.

Total investment of the program amounts to USD 10 million, to be entirely financed with FONPLATA resources, and executed by the Argentine Ministry of Social Development.

The investment will focus on the municipalities in Greater Buenos Aires (GBA), benefiting more than 1,000 households in emergency and vulnerable situations due to health conditions and whose homes have fallen in disrepair, affecting living conditions and requiring an urgent response.

Households in critical social vulnerability situation will be identified, as well as their needs for improvement to reach adequate housing conditions. Then, habitability conditions will be improved, as well as the management capacities of the agencies involved in the execution of social housing programs.

In this sense, it fulfills the commitment subscribed through FONPLATA's Sustainable Debt Framework at the socio-environmental level by generating affordable basic infrastructure.

Thus, it will contribute to reaching three of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG): No Poverty (SDG-1), Reduced Inequalities (SDG-10) and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG-11).
