Bolivia: Santa Cruz Received Non-Reimbursable Funding from FONPLATA to Fight the COVID-19
Through a non-reimbursable technical cooperation, the Development Bank granted USD 120,000 for the purchase of medical products and supplies to address the health emergency caused by the pandemic.
The general purpose of this non-reimbursable funding is to provide humanitarian aid to the Department of Santa Cruz, minimizing the spreading of the virus and reducing its negative effects in the population, including its social and economic impact.
These USD 120,000 will be used to purchase medical products and supplies for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with the COVID-19: reagents, ELISA testing equipment, and multiparameter monitors. The non-reimbursable technical cooperation will be managed by FONPLATA in close cooperation and coordination with the General Secretariat of the Government of Santa Cruz.
On March 12, the Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia declared national emergency over the COVID-19 outbreak. Within this framework, Santa Cruz declared a state of emergency in the whole department.
Thus, FONPLATA continues to provide its member countries with the resources needed to help mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic in the region.
