This Monday, FONPLATA — Development Bank approved a loan to improve the quality of life and the competitiveness of farmers in the Municipality of Yapacani in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, through the construction and paving of Faja Norte road. These works will improve the traffic conditions of the existing road, reduce travel times and the operating costs of freight transport.

The project, worth more than USD 56 million, shall promote national and international integration to strengthen the productive centers in general and the agricultural and livestock sectors, favoring their insertion in the regional trade and facilitating the export of their products.

On the other hand, considering gender and diversity perspectives, the project will promote the prevention of gender violence by increasing visibility and raising awareness of the problem. Among the actions planned, specific signage related to the issue will be used.

This operation contributes to the following Sustainable Development Goals for the year 2030: SDG 8 — Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all; SDG 9 — Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation; and SDG 5 — Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
