FONPLATA presents its support line for regional integration and MERCOSUR to finance development projects in the tourism sector in South America
The event “South America Connects” brought together government authorities, institutional representatives, and tour operators from the countries of the region on September 26 and 27, in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The purpose of the meeting was to collaborate with governments to improve public policies and promote actions before international organizations to optimize tourism competitiveness and positioning in the region.
Within this framework, FONPLATA's country coordinators for Uruguay and Argentina, Carolina Vera and Maria Elena Araneo, respectively, presented the Support Line for Regional Integration and MERCOSUR, by means of which MERCOSUR member countries can access funding for tourism products integrated into the structure of their investment plans. They made special reference to the projects in the tourism sector that FONPLATA has already supported in the different countries.
The meeting was organized by the South American Federation of Tourism (FEDESUD) and aimed at promoting the integration and joint creation of tourism products between countries, contributing to the reduction of social and physical infrastructure gaps, as well as generating employment and sustainability.
