FONPLATA improves transportation infrastructure in Uruguay
FONPLATA — Development Bank approved the largest operation in the history of its relationship with the country: a two-stage USD 300-million loan funding. The works will focus on improving Uruguay's road network competitiveness for agro-industrial and timber transportation, including infrastructure works for refurbishing roads that are strategic for the productive sector and integrating them with the railroad network.
Investments will focus on construction and maintenance of road sections, bridges, and drainage, as well as minor works and urban interventions.
Corporación Vial del Uruguay will oversee the project, which seeks to improve road transport service, and to reduce vehicle operating costs and travel times.
With these works FONPLATA contributes to SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth, and SDG 9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure.
