In a ceremony attended by FONPLATA's Executive President, Luciana Botafogo, the President of the Development Bank of Minas Gerais (BDMG), Gabriel Viégas Neto, and the Governor of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema, FONPLATA and BDMG signed a second non-sovereign risk operation for USD 34 million. These resources will be used to finance development projects in small municipalities in the State of Minas Gerais.

The President of the Brazilian bank recalled that the relationship between both institutions dates back to 2020, when BDMG became “the first Brazilian public bank to raise funds with FONPLATA”. And added that “with this new contract our joint action is reinforced, directing credit to important projects of the municipal governments”.

For her part, Luciana Botafogo highlighted the strategic importance of working with the BDMG and local authorities, acknowledging “that the BDMG is a source of best practices and innovative financial solutions”. And noted that “this new operation will support projects that promote social inclusion and the improvement of the population's quality of life, in line with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals”.

The event took place on Monday, January 29, at the BDMG's facilities.
